V.02.3Member Offsets
Matches STAAD.Pro to its print precisionOpen in the app and solveNo sign-up needed: it runs in your browser.
Problem
Check displacements, reactions and member end forces of members with rigid end offsets, including local offsets on a member rolled by BETA.
Reference
- STAAD.Pro V8i SS6, the same input file run by Sutranet (no published solution).
Model
- A portal whose beam is offset to the column faces and whose column tops are offset
- An inclined cantilever with BETA 30 and LOCAL offsets; a brace with offsets in all three directions
- Uniform and concentrated beam loads, a global-direction load on the brace, and a self-weight case
Comparison
| Quantity | STAAD.Pro prints to | Largest difference |
|---|---|---|
| Joint displacements | 0.001 mm | 0.0004 mm |
| Joint rotations | 0.0001 rad | 0.00004 rad |
| Support reactions | 0.01 kN, kN·m | 0.005 |
| Member end forces | 0.01 kN, kN·m | 0.005 |
- STAAD.Pro V8i applies offset values as global X, Y, Z distances even when they are marked LOCAL; only that reading reproduces its output, so the importer reads them the same way and says so in the import report.
Reproduce in Sutranet CAD
- Open the project in the app (no sign-up needed), or download the file and open it with 📂 Import Job JSON in the File group.
- Run Analysis (Static) on load cases 1 and 2 with P-Delta Analysis unticked.
The app works in SI units; results in kip and inch are converted (1 kip = 4.448 kN, 1 kip-in = 0.1130 kN·m, 1 in = 25.4 mm).
Automated test: staad_offsets.rs, run on every change.
